2 cups flour
1 tsp soda
5 Tbs. cocoa powder
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
Sift together flour, soda, and cocoa
powder. Mix in sugar. Mix hot water and mayonnaise in a
separate bowl, and add the vanilla. Add the wet ingredients to the
dry and mix well. Bake in a 13 x 9" pan at 350° for 45 - 60
minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool on rack. Frost.
Frosting:
6 oz. bittersweet chocolate
6 Tbs. strong black coffee, cooled
1 stick chilled butter, cut into 1/2" pats
Melt chocolate over low
heat. Stir in coffee. Remove from heat and stir in
butter, one pat at a time until all has been added and mixture is
smooth. Chill in refrigerator until frosting reaches spreading
consistency, about 1 hour. |
